About the Role The Emergency Department Charge Nurse oversees clinical functions related to the delivery of patient care, the quality of nursing practice and the standards of care for the assigned shift. Directs patient care activities by assigning staff and functions on the unit based on the Charge RN’s assessment of patient needs and the relative skills and abilities of staff, while maintaining clinical nursing practice skills and unit-specific expertise. *This is a 12-hour shift
What You'll Do
Performs professional nursing duties that integrate clinical expertise, critical thinking, and age-appropriate patient care principles to assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and advocate for patients and their families throughout the continuum of care. Serves as a clinical leader and resource for staff, promoting high-quality, patient-centered care while ensuring adherence to organizational policies, regulatory requirements, and professional standards.
Demonstrates advanced clinical expertise, strong interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with physicians, interdisciplinary teams, patients, and families to promote excellence in care delivery and operational effectiveness.
Qualifications
Active, current, and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of California
Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Current American Heart Association (AHA) Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
At least one (1) year of professional nursing knowledge and experience
Demonstrated leadership experience, including the ability to guide, mentor, and support clinical staff while promoting collaboration and accountability
Strong understanding of patient classification systems, acuity-based staffing models, and regulatory staffing requirements
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with patients, families, physicians, and interdisciplinary team members
Ability to adapt quickly and maintain professionalism, flexibility, and composure in a dynamic, fast-paced healthcare environment
Strong critical-thinking, organizational, and decision-making skills with a commitment to delivering high-quality patient care
Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team while fostering a patient-centered culture of safety and service excellence.
Environmental Job Requirements and Working Conditions
Our organization follows an in person work structure where the expectation is to work onsite on a weekly basis. The hospital is located at 14662 Newport Ave, Tustin, CA 92780.
The total compensation target pay range for this role is $46.00 -$65.00 per hour. The salary range represents our national target range for this role.
