The Charlotte Regional Transportation Planning Organization (CRTPO) is the federally designated Metropolitan Planning Organization for the Charlotte urban area, serving Mecklenburg, Iredell, and Union counties. As the largest MPO in North Carolina, CRTPO works with 24 member jurisdictions to plan and prioritize transportation investments that support more than 1.6 million residents. The organization develops long-range transportation plans, allocates federal and state transportation funding, and coordinates regional mobility initiatives in partnership with local, state, and federal agencies. CRTPO plays a critical role in addressing the transportation needs of one of the nation's fastest-growing regions while ensuring compliance with federal transportation planning requirements.
