Full Job Description


We are looking for a Driver to transport clients in a comfortable, safe and timely manner. We service the greater Washtenaw County area (primarily Ypsilanti and Ann Arbor) and we prefer drivers that live there and are able to commute in a timely manner. We need people who understand the importance of professionalism, empathy and patience when dealing with others who may have physical limitations. Driver responsibilities include maintaining a clean vehicle and planning each route based on road and traffic conditions. Ultimately, you will help us increase customer satisfaction, making sure clients depend on us for their transportation needs. To be considered for this role, you should have a valid driver’s and chauffeur's license along with a clean driving record with no traffic violations. Note that you don’t need to have a car; we provide drivers with our own vehicles.


Responsibilities


  • Map out driving routes ahead of time to determine the most expedient trip
  • Pick up clients from the place and at the time they’ve requested
  • Ensure required paperwork is completed and returned to the office
  • Assist clients with entering and exiting the vehicle
  • Listen to traffic and weather reports to stay up-to-date on road conditions
  • Adjust the route to avoid heavy traffic or road constructions, as needed
  • Ensure the van seats are clean and comfortable for all riders
  • Report any vehicle issues
Skills


  • Proven experience as a Driver
  • A valid driver’s license
  • A chauffeur's license
  • A clean driving record
  • Familiarity with GPS devices
  • Knowledge of area roads and neighborhoods
  • Ability to lift heavy packages and equipment
  • A polite and professional disposition
  • Ability to pass pre-employment drug screening, physical, and background check
  • Full range of motion with the ability to bend knees, lift, and push
  • Operate wheelchair lifts as needed
  • Ability to work flexible hours
  • Ability to remain calm in stressful driving situations (e.g. at rush hour)
  • A high school diploma
  • Great communication skills
  • First Aid /CPR certification
