Worcester Recovery Center and Hospital (WRCH) operated by the Department of Mental Health (DMH) is seeking an experienced driver to transport non-emergent persons and/or materials as needed.

Please note: This is a full-time, 40 hour position. The schedule is 7:30am - 4:00pm, Sunday-Thursday. The days off are Friday and Saturday.

Duties and Responsibilities (these are a general summary and not all inclusive):

  • Operates a light motor vehicle such as a passenger automobile, pick-up truck, panel deliver truck 15 passenger van or small passenger van for transportation of patients to appointments or materials delivery.
  • Assists with minor road and garage repairs such as changing tires, spark plugs and oil.
  • Inspects vehicle for any imperfections and verifies gas levels before departure.
  • Checks and cleans vehicles regularly.
  • Maintains records of mileage, gas, destinations and repairs.
  • Comply with traffic laws, placing the client's safety above all else.
  • Participates in shoveling snow, sanding roads and sidewalks.
  • Picks up and delivers mail, packages and payroll when and as required.

Required Qualifications:

  • Considerable knowledge of traffic laws and regulations.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and comprehend English to communicate effectively with a diverse group of patients, employees, and supervisors.
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions and communicate effectively in oral expression
  • Experience with DMH regulations and program procedures.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Excellent driving record

Located on over 20 acres in Worcester, Massachusetts, Worcester Recovery Center and Hospital (WRCH) is part of an integrated network of effective, efficient, and culturally competent mental health services. It provides intermediate and long-term inpatient care for individuals with serious and persistent mental illness who live in Massachusetts, as well as individuals requiring specialized court ordered evaluations.

WRCH provides inpatient services to 290 adults and 30 adolescents, inclusive of a Deaf Inpatient Mental Health Service program for 10 patients.
