The Position

The City of Maple Grove is seeking a passionate and energetic individual to lead our recreation cheer program. In this role, you will help foster the individual interests and talents of participants as they develop their abilities and love for cheer. As the cheer program lead you will be responsible for creating and managing a positive learning environment for the participants, managing the instructors, and organizing classes and competitions. Responsibilities

• Work with children individually and in group settings to support the development of their skills, interests, and talents while maintaining a positive and supportive learning environment.
• Hire, schedule, supervise, and provide direction to cheer staff and instructors.
• Organize class schedules and facility space, including coordinating room reservations and program logistics.
• Plan, organize, and direct annual cheer competitions and other program activities.
• Communicate effectively with parents, participants, and instructors regarding program information, schedules, and needs.
• Develop and implement program improvements, provide instruction and choreography as needed, follow emergency and accident procedures, and perform other related duties as assigned.
• Perform other related duties as requested by supervisor.

• Work effectively and cooperatively with children, parents, and others.
• Take initiative and responsibly manage assigned duties and responsibilities.
• Communicate clearly and effectively with children, parents, and program staff.

Qualifications

Need to have:

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Two years of experience teaching cheer classes.
• Knowledge of cheer elements and techniques.

Nice to have:

• Previous experience supervising staff or children.
• General knowledge of the Parks and Recreation program and its philosophy.
