Film Catering Chef / Cook
Busy film catering company is potentially hiring a dependable, experienced Chef or Cook for on-location film and television catering throughout Utah.
Dates: Sept. through December 10, 2026- April -December 2027
Position: Part-time / Seasonal, with potential for future full-time employment
Work Location: Various locations within 60 mile range of Park city
What You’ll Do
- Follow the lead chef’s direction while also confidently executing your own recipes and dishes
- Cook proteins, vegetables, starches, sauces, soups, and other menu items
- Develop and execute well-balanced flavor profiles
- Compose creative, complex dishes using available ingredients
- Adjust recipes and menus when ingredients, timing, or production needs change
- Support buffet service and replenish food as needed
- Maintain consistent food quality, presentation, and proper serving temperatures
- Pack, label, store, rotate, and handle food safely
- Keep the mobile kitchen/equipment clean, organized, and production-ready
- Assist with inventory, loading, unloading, and kitchen organization
- Work closely with the catering team to keep service running smoothly
This Job Is Physically Demanding

- 75+ hours a week
- Very early call times, including starts as early as 2:00 AM
- Being on your feet for most of the day
- Working quickly with limited downtime
- Lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling throughout the shift
- Repeatedly lifting up to 50 pounds
- Working in hot kitchens outdoors everyday
- Working in changing weather conditions
- Traveling to production sites, including rural locations
- Maintaining focus, professionalism, and food quality during long, demanding shifts
We’re Looking for Someone Who:
- Has strong culinary skills, creativity, and a genuine ability to cook—not simply follow basic prep instructions
- Has experience developing flavor profiles and composing creative, well-balanced dishes
- Can follow direction accurately while also taking ownership of assigned dishes and recipes
- Can confidently execute their own recipes when given the opportunity
- Thinks independently and solves problems without needing constant supervision
- Can adapt quickly when ingredients, equipment, schedules, or service needs change
- Understands proper cooking techniques, seasoning, timing, and presentation
- Has experience working in a fast-paced high-volume kitchen
- Is reliable, punctual, organized, clean, and detail-oriented
- Remains calm, flexible, and productive under pressure
- Works well independently and as part of a team
- Maintains a positive and professional attitude throughout long production days
Direct experience in catering, restaurants, commercial kitchens, or production catering is required. Culinary training is helpful but not required.
Utah proof of residency is preferred. Reliable personal transportation is required, as call times are often very early and production locations may be remote.
Overtime
Overtime availability and rates may depend on the production contract. When applicable, daily overtime is paid at:
- 1.5× the regular hourly rate after 8 hours worked through 14 hours
- 2× the regular hourly rate after 14 hours worked
