North Plank Road Tavern, a family owned 60 seat fine dining restaurant in a historic Newburgh building, is seeking a hands-on Working Chef to lead our small BOH team. We offer a stable schedule, and meaningful creative input for a chef who loves cooking and leading from the line.
Responsibilities
- Daily line cooking and BOH leadership
- Menu development, recipe creation, and monthly pairing dinners
- Food costing, purchasing, inventory, and kitchen cost management
- Proper food rotation, sanitation, and safety compliance
- Plating, butchering (meat & fish), baking, and desserts
- Hiring, training, and mentoring kitchen staff
Qualifications
- 5+ years progressive culinary/kitchen management experience, or talented sous chef looking to make the transition to chef
- Strong classic technique and fine dining background
- Reliable, professional, and easygoing leadership style
- Ability to accommodate dietary requests (gluten free, no garlic, etc.)
- ServSafe certification preferred
- Knowledge of food, wine, pairings, and industry trends
Schedule & Benefits
- 5 day, 40 hour work week (Wed Sun)
- Dinner service only (4:30 9 PM)
- Two weeks paid vacation
- Closed on July 4th, Thanksgiving, Christmas Day, and New Year s Day
- Open on New Year s Eve, Valentine s Day, and Mother s Day
- Salary: $55,000 $65,000, based on experience
