This position is for an Temporary Educational Paraprofessional Specialist-ASL Interpreter. The position is anticipated to be 6.0 hours per day 8:50am - 3:20pm. Position to end June 11, 2027 or the last day of school or if changes to student enrollment occur. This position is open until filled.
It is a one-on-one student specific position, as an American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreter, and will assist (under direct supervision) in the supervision and instruction of deaf and/or hard of hearing special education students, relieving teachers/counselors of routine clerical tasks, and assisting students by providing for special health care needs.

Minimum Employment Requirement: Must be at least 18 years of age and hold a high school diploma or its equivalent. In addition, must meet one of the following:

Skills, Knowledge and/or Abilities Required:
Skills to perform basic clerical functions, perform basic arithmetic calculations, operate standard office equipment, including the use of basic computer applications, use English in verbal and written form, use correct grammar, punctuation and spelling. Skills to communicate effectively, problem solve.
Knowledge of principles of child development, instructional processes, problem solving methodology.
Abilities to sit for prolonged periods, understand and carry out oral and written instructions, maintain confidentiality of student records, fulfill schedules and meet deadlines, read/interpret/apply rules, regulations, policies, rapidly learn methods and materials used in a variety of instructional situations. Significant physical abilities include reaching/handling, talking/hearing conversations, near/far visual acuity and may include lifting/carrying 25 lbs.
Licenses, Certifications, Bonding, and/or Testing Required: Criminal Justice Fingerprint Clearance (cost paid by applicant), Sexual Misconduct Disclosure Form, First Aid/CPR Certification, and Vaccine series, as required for health safety assurances.

Additional Job Information:
This position is temporary and not subject to the terms or conditions of the Teamsters Bargaining Unit Agreement; includes pro-rated health benefits and sick leave; does not include paid holidays or personal days. Temporary positions end on the last student day of the current school year or upon change in program needs.
Compensation and Benefits:
Temporary positions are subject to the terms or conditions of the Teamsters Local 252 Bargaining Agreement per Article 1.2.5 Temporary Employee. Temporary positions include health benefits, as described below, and sick leave. It does not include paid holidays or personal days. See Article 7-Leaves and Article 16-Schedule A.
