Chemical Batch Processing Technician

Location: Wood Dale, IL

Employment Type: Temp to Hire

Compensation: $21–$24 per hour (depending on experience)

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM

A day in this role

At 8:00 AM, you review the day’s batch records and stage specialty raw materials. By mid-morning, you’re running the blend system, dialing in settings to match precise formulas and documenting each step. After lunch, you’re checking viscosity and appearance to verify the blend meets spec, then helping the lead maker pour down finished product into smaller containers and labeling them accurately. Throughout the day, you keep your work area clean, follow safety protocols, and partner with teammates to troubleshoot and fine-tune the process for efficiency and quality.

What you’ll handle

• Operate blending systems per batch record instructions and SOPs
• Read and interpret formulas; pull special raw materials and blend to target
• Assist the chemical batch lead maker with pour-downs and labeling
• Monitor blend parameters to ensure consistency and proper mixing
• Perform in-process and final quality checks to confirm specifications
• Maintain a safe, orderly work area and follow PPE requirements
• Record production data and track inventory with accuracy
• Collaborate with the team to resolve issues and optimize throughput

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• Experience in chemical manufacturing or production preferred
• Comfort lifting up to 55 pounds on a regular basis
• Knowledge of proper chemical handling and PPE use (including respirators as needed)
• Strong work ethic; able to follow detailed instructions precisely
• Speak, read, and write English
• Proficiency in warehouse operations, materials handling, and inventory management
• Forklift experience is a plus
• Strong attention to detail

Physical demands

Moderate physical activity with frequent lifting up to 55 pounds. Appropriate PPE, up to and including a respirator depending on materials, is required.
