Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Electrical Maintenance Technician to join a highly skilled maintenance team supporting a fast-paced industrial manufacturing facility. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys diagnosing electrical problems, troubleshooting production equipment, and playing a key role in keeping manufacturing operations running safely and efficiently.
This is a heavily electrical-focused maintenance position, with approximately 75–80% of the work involving electrical troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance, while the remaining time is spent assisting with mechanical maintenance and equipment repairs.
Primary Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair industrial production equipment to minimize downtime.
- Perform electrical maintenance on 120V, 240V, and 480V electrical systems.
- Troubleshoot and repair AC/DC motors, motor starters, motor controls, overloads, relays, contactors, transformers, disconnects, and electrical control panels.
- Diagnose and repair Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) and related motor control systems.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, blueprints, and technical documentation.
- Troubleshoot PLC-controlled equipment by verifying inputs, outputs, sensors, and electrical components (PLC programming experience is not required).
- Install, replace, and repair electrical components including sensors, switches, photo eyes, proximity sensors, wiring, and electrical devices.
- Perform preventive maintenance to improve equipment reliability and reduce unplanned downtime.
- Assist with root cause analysis and implement long-term corrective actions to improve equipment performance.
- Maintain accurate maintenance documentation and complete work orders.
- Work closely with production and fellow maintenance technicians to quickly resolve equipment issues and maintain plant productivity.
Mechanical Responsibilities
Although this is an electrical-first position, technicians will also assist with mechanical repairs as needed, including:
- Bearings
- Belts
- Chains
- Rollers
- Gearboxes
- Pumps
- Conveyors
- Basic hydraulic and pneumatic components
- Equipment adjustments and alignments
Equipment You'll Support
Technicians will maintain a wide variety of industrial manufacturing equipment, including:
- Conveyors
- Mixers
- Pumps
- Industrial motors
- Gearboxes
- Electrical control panels
- PLC-controlled production equipment
- Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs)
- Sensors and photo eyes
- Motor starters
- Relays
- Contactors
- Safety circuits
- Electrical distribution equipment
Work Environment
This position is located within a chemical manufacturing facility where safety is a top priority. Employees are provided with all required personal protective equipment and are expected to follow all plant safety procedures.
The role requires the use of:
- Safety glasses
- Steel-toe boots
- Gloves
- Hearing protection
- Respirator (required while working in designated production areas)
While the facility manufactures lead-based specialty products, strict safety procedures, engineering controls, and PPE requirements are in place to provide a safe working environment.
Ideal Background
Successful candidates typically have experience in:
- Industrial electrical maintenance
- Manufacturing environments
- 480V electrical systems
- Motors and motor controls
- Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs)
- Electrical troubleshooting
- Reading electrical schematics
- PLC-controlled equipment
- Preventive maintenance
- Mechanical troubleshooting in an industrial setting
