Job Summary:
This occupation requires a complete understanding of chemical milling etch rates and resulting responses for Class I and II Chemical Milling processes on parts and/or assembles to finish dimensions. Diagnose causes of defective workmanship and recommends corrective action. Guides and directs other personnel in work assignments and operates processing equipment as required.
Job Responsibilities:
• Plan sequence of operations and develop new production methods, procedures, and techniques.
• Calculate rate of chemical milling etch rate and immersion to mill material to final dimension.
• Test and maintain proper solution concentration and temperature.
• Assure the quality of scribe cuts and masking compound prior to immersion of parts and/or assembles in etching solution to assure it is intact so as not to cause lifting of the maskant material.
• Interpret specifications and blueprints for allowable tolerances and variations in processing procedures.
• Capable of recognizing improper chemical action which may cause defective workmanship, and be able to take corrective action against pitting, roughness, excess etching, nodules and channeling.
• Operate any processing equipment as required.
• Record processing data for future reference in preparation of reports. Performs other related work as required.
• Guide and instruct other personnel in work assignments in Chemical Milling process per above responsibilities.
Education:
Requires knowledge of materials, processes, and tooling. Requires use of thermometer, hydrometer, micrometer, voltmeter, etc. Ability to work from complicated prints and specifications. Requires a high school diploma, an equivalent certificate, or a bronze level WorkKeys certification plus minimum of two years of specialized trades training.
Experience:
Requires minimum of three years chemical milling experience.
