Chemical Operator II/III 

Location: Sauget, IL 

Salary Range: $22-$40 per hour 

Job Description: 

Crysalis Biosciences Inc. is seeking skilled chemical operators. Our chemical operators are responsible for the operation of our computer-controlled process equipment, manual machinery, evaluation of process problems that may arise, and documenting process parameters. In addition, you will be a vital part of the team to help ensure maximum production quantity and quality, while supporting the policies, goals, and objectives of the company. 

Key Responsibilities: 

• Monitor and control plant operations. 

• Constantly review the plant operation, control the process, ensure quality 

product is produced, anticipate and solve problems, and help identify 

opportunities for improvement. 

• 
Participate in projects to improve efficiency and/or reduce operating costs. 

• Maintain records of key production variables (including production volume, yield, plant uptime, and utility consumption) 

• Collaborate and effectively communicate with QA to ensure effective participation in QA programs related to sampling and testing process streams and products 

• 
Ensure compliance with all standard operating procedures (SOPs) and safety procedures.

Coordinate with maintenance to ensure timely repair work by assisting in 

diagnosing and troubleshooting any maintenance issues. 

• Participate in safety, health, and environmental programs. 

Maintain compliance with any applicable city, county, state, and federal 

regulations relating to operations. 

· 
Ensures plant cleanliness and monitors use/inventory of process chemicals and supplies. 

Qualifications & Experience: Chemical Operator (II) 

• High School diploma required, post-secondary education or technical trade. 

· 
Certificate is an asset. 

· 
Computer Skills: Ability to work effectively with the plant's Distributed Control 

System (DCS); proficiency with standard office software is an asset. 

• Skills & Technical Requirements:

• 
Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 

Experience with operation monitoring and computer control systems. 

Quality control analysis. 

Critical thinking and problem-solving. 

· 
Ability to monitor and ensure safe equipment operation. 

• 
Understanding basic process safety 

Qualifications & Experience: Chemical Operator (III) 

• Associate degree in Process Technology, Chemical Operations, or related field preferred. 

Experience with dry-mill ethanol plants and coproduct operations (DDGS, corn oil extraction) 

• 5-7 years of experience as a chemical operator in an ethanol production facility or similar process manufacturing environment preferred 

• Able to operate safely and efficiently, monitor, and troubleshooting ethanol production processes. 

Work Environment & Physical Requirements: 

• 
Exposure to heat, noise, moving machinery, chemicals, and elevated work areas. 

• Must regularly lift or move up to 50 lbs. and be able to climb ladders and work 

at elevations up to 175 feet. 

• 
Must be able and willing to work safely, including wearing and using 

task-specific appropriate personal protective equipment.
