Job Summary
The Production Technicians operate chemical processes and perform production-related activities, utilizing their chemical manufacturing knowledge and experience to operate and troubleshoot the plant in a safe and efficient manner. The Production Technician works in a team environment where collaboration and teamwork are critical to meeting the goals of the business.
Job Description
Drive a culture of "Do It Safe, Do It Right the First Time" through daily actions and communication
Serve as the issuer of safe work permits
Safely and efficiently operate assigned processes to meet ALAM's daily quality, production, and productivity goals
Review and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
Review and update learning resources for the processes
Complete annual personal goals to support the plant's objectives and personal development
Assemble and disassemble production equipment
Must be certified to operate a forklift
Effectively prioritize daily tasks while working with the Production Leads and Production Supervisors
Participate in monthly safety meetings and promote a safe work environment
Perform basic maintenance on equipment
Successfully complete all assigned training
Cross-train peers on approved functions
Skills Required
Minimum of 2 years of experience in a process operations environment
Minimum of 2 years of experience handling chemicals or other hazardous materials preferred
Minimum of 2 years of experience working on mechanical and electrical systems
Ability to lift 50 lbs. and climb ladders
Experience with nuclear, electronics, or mechanical training
Understanding of analytical processes for chemical processing
Knowledge of root cause investigation processes and methodologies
Knowledge of 5S and Lean manufacturing principles
Demonstrated ability to obtain appropriate assistance when confronted with problem situations
Computer literate
Ability to quickly learn technical chemical processes in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
Ability to interact effectively with others to accomplish daily tasks and achieve the plant's goals
Actively participate on ALAM's Emergency Response (ER) Team, including serving as an ER entry team member
Ability to perform technical troubleshooting to resolve process issues
Self-starter with the ability to perform well under pressure and adapt to changing priorities
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing, with stakeholders at multiple levels of the business
Education/Training/Certifications
Associate's Degree in Applied Science in Processing Technology or other related science
Additional Requirements
Must be able to pass a drug screening and criminal background check
Ability to medically pass a respiratory and physical test to wear a full-face respirator, as required
Must be clean-shaven at all times for safety purposes
Must be able to work rotating shifts, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:
Work at heights up to 30 feet on rare occasions
Operate forklifts safely as part of daily job duties
Lift and move materials weighing up to 50 lbs regularly
Warehouse, clean room, production suite
Required PPE:
OSHA PPE: steel-toe shoes/boots; FR uniform and other PPE will be provided
Ability to wear a full-face, tight-fitting respirator and a fully encapsulated (Level A) ER suit, Self-contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA), or any other tight-fitting and/or supplied air respirators (SAR)
Shift Hours:
Night Shift: Fixed 4 days on / 4 days off with 12-hour shift (EST). No rotating between day and night shifts
Day Shift: Rotating 2/3 schedule with 12-hour shifts. Every other Sat, Sun, & Mon scheduled day off
Pay Rate/Salary
$22.00/hr. Actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as education, experience, skillset, and/or location
