    Job Description

    The Chemical Supervisor is responsible for day-to-day operations of our Chemical Department. This role is responsible for supervising a team of operators and ensuring that all activities are conducted safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with regulatory and company standards.


    Responsibilities

    • Supervise and provide direction to operators involved in the transfer, blending, and storage of hazardous liquids across tanks, barges, ships, railcars, and trucks.
    • Ensure safe and compliant execution of all product movements in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations.
    • Coordinate shipments with internal departments, customers, and transportation providers to meet operational schedules.
    • Conduct line verifications and regular area inspections to ensure equipment and systems are functioning correctly.
    • Maintain clear and continuous communication with the customer service team to ensure prompt and accurate service delivery.
    • Troubleshoot equipment issues and attempt resolution prior to engaging maintenance or electrical teams.
    • Oversee and complete all necessary paperwork, including rail, gauging, and vessel documentation.
    • Lead pre-shift safety tailgate meetings to reinforce safety protocols and expectations.
    • Enforce all company policies and procedures, including handling employee discipline when necessary.
    • Support engineering and construction projects within the Miscellaneous Liquids Department.
    • Ensure smooth shift transitions by providing detailed pass-down reports and confirming staffing levels for the incoming shift.
    • Monitor inventory records and manage work orders as needed.
    • Maintain a thorough understanding of product pipelines, valves, tanks, manifolds, and jumpers.
    • Approve timesheets and time-off requests in Workday for all direct reports.

    Education and Experience

    • High School Diploma or equivalent
    • Minimum of 3 years prior supervisory experience in the Petrochemical Industry.
    • Valid Driver’s License
    • TWIC (Transportation Workers Identification Credentials) for access to IMTT’s terminal locations.

    Skills and Abilities

    • Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills in the English language.
    • Ability to understand written and verbal communication in the English language.
    • Ability to perform in a fast-paced multi-faceted workload and make decisions in a variable environment.
    • Ability to communicate with all other terminal departments.

    Hours of Work

    • This is an exempt, salaried position. The role requires flexibility to support a 24/7 operation and will oversee day and night shift rotations, including weekends and holidays, as business needs require.
    • Occasional travel may be necessary, sometimes with little or no advance notice.

    • Ability to perform climbing, bending, stooping, kneeling and moderate lifting.
    • Must be able to work in confined spaces, over water and not be afraid of heights.
    • Ability to wear and use a respirator.
