** Johnson Service Group (JSG) is a nationally recognized professional staffing and recruiting firm that is looking for an experienced Chemical Technician to fill a one-year assignment in the Billingsley, AL area.


This position may require some bending, lifting, climbing, prolonged sitting, prolonged walking, walking on gravel or crawling when necessary.

Job Title: Chemical Technician

Work Location:  Billingsley, AL 


Requirements:

Required PPE: Hard hat, Steel toe/Safety toe boots, Safety glasses, Full face respirator, Hearing protection

Qualifications:

• BS degree in Chemistry or other field of science with a MINIMUM of 12 semester hours in Chemistry required.
• Certified Chemical Technician (CCT) credential
• Certified Laboratory Safety Professional (CLSP) credential
• Experience and competency in the use, calibration and maintenance of laboratory instrumentation/equipment
• Knowledge of proper analytical methods and techniques

Preferred Skills & Experience:

• Prior experience and knowledge of boiler/water analysis preferred.
• Previous work experience in a water treatment plant preferred.
• Previous experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment preferred.
• Familiarity with mechanical parts and repair is preferred.
• Knowledge and experience in production of deionized water is preferred.

Key Responsibilities:

• Tracking inventory
• Prioritizing orders
• Maintaining lab equipment
• Documenting the processes during each chemical test
• Following environmental regulations
• Reviewing newly published safety protocols from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and the National Fire Protection Association (NFRA)
• Preparing chemical solutions
• Completing chemical orders
• Storing solutions safely according to different temperature requirements
• Conducting lab tests to ensure that chemicals are safe to use
• Recording and troubleshooting issues for further assessment
• Compiling and interpreting lab test results
• Correcting potential anomalies in results
• Monitoring chemical processes and resolving production issues by meeting with the appropriate personnel
• Producing and retrieving graphical results to share with lab managers or more senior personnel
• Sterilizing work surfaces and equipment before using them
• Replacing worn or damaged equipment as needed
• Training new technicians on different chemical processes and periodically updating their knowledge of chemical technology
