We are seeking a motivated CHEMIST I to join our Research & Development team at our flagship corporate headquarters and manufacturing facility located at 400 ARDEX Park Drive, Center Township, PA 15001.
You'll work alongside experienced chemists and technical professionals while gaining exposure to product development, formulation science, laboratory testing, and construction materials technology. What You'll Do
Support Product Development & Testing
- Assist in the preparation, testing, and evaluation of product formulations
- Support research and development projects under the direction of project leads and senior technical staff
- Conduct laboratory investigations of raw materials and finished products
- Help evaluate product performance and identify improvement opportunities
- Contribute to projects involving a variety of construction product technologies
Generate Reliable Technical Data
- Accurately record experimental data, observations, and test results
- Compile and organize technical findings for review and project documentation
- Assist with the preparation of technical reports and project summaries
- Identify unusual results, inconsistencies, and potential testing issues
- Follow established laboratory methods, test procedures, and quality standards
Maintain Laboratory Operations
- Set up, operate, troubleshoot, and maintain laboratory equipment
- Monitor laboratory inventory and request supplies as needed
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment
- Assist with routine equipment maintenance and calibration activities
- Ensure workspaces remain inspection-ready and well organized
Promote Safe Laboratory Practices
- Follow all laboratory safety procedures and company policies
- Review and use Safety Data Sheets (SDSs) appropriately
- Safely handle chemicals, materials, and laboratory equipment
- Utilize required personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Support ARDEX's commitment to workplace safety and environmental responsibility

- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or another scientific discipline
- Internship, laboratory, manufacturing, research, or construction materials experience
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate work
- Ability to understand technical concepts and apply logical, data-driven problem-solving approaches
- Mechanical aptitude and comfort working with laboratory equipment and testing devices
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Effective verbal and written communication skills

Education and Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or another scientific discipline
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to occasionally travel, including limited overnight travel
- Legally authorized to work in the United States. Work or visa sponsorship is not available at this time
- Able to lift from floor to waist up to and including 50 lbs on occasions, able to lift from floor to overhead up to 15 lbs, lift and carry 25 lbs for 25 feet and occasionally move 50-100-pound loads with mechanical assistance
