Qualifications:
- Masters Degree from an accredited institution with an emphasis in educational leadership, school administration, or curriculum, or can reasonably obtain within the timeframe prescribed by Michigan law.
- Valid State of Michigan Teaching Certification;
- Minimum of 5 years successful classroom teaching;
- Proof supporting high expectations for student achievement and behavior;
- Ability to communicate effectively and relate positively with students, parents, staff, and community; 7. Ability to consistently and appropriately apply disciplinary guidelines for behavior;
- Demonstrated knowledge of quality instructional techniques and strategies and ability to share those techniques and strategies with other staff members.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as building principal in the principal's absence;
- Assist the building principal in supervising the school's educational programs;
- Assist with carrying out policies of the Board of Education and district/state regulations;
- Assist with the supervision of all professional and support staff assigned to building;
- Assist with recruiting, screening, hiring, assigning and evaluating of the school staff;
- Enforce discipline as necessary in accordance with Chesaning Middle School Handbook and Board Policy;
- Promote and foster an atmosphere within the school that is conducive to high quality education, high faculty morale, orderly classrooms, and visible pride in the school;
- Serve on the District PBIS Team;
- Lead the Building level PBIS Team in creating, implementing, and overseeing a building wide PBIS program;
- Serve on the Building Leadership Team;
- Assist administration with data disaggregation;
- Assist administration with planning and leading curriculum development, alignment, and implementation;
- Assist administration with identifying and implementing best practices in instruction;
- Assist administration with standardized test administration;
- Other duties as assigned by Principal or Superintendent;
