WORKING CONDITIONS AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: SERVICE AREAS INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO: PATERSON, ORANGES, KEARNY, CLIFTON, NEWARK, AND HACKENSACK Work in a variety of home environments, frequent travel by car or public transportation throughout the service area as necessary. Tasks may involve exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissue (OSHA Category 1) and household chemicals, dust, and disinfectants.This position routinely requires driving a car or using public transportation, lifting, bending, reaching, kneeling, pushing and pulling, stretching, standing, stooping walking up and down stairs, seeing hearing, speaking, writing, carrying, weight bearing activities, and the use of a wide assortment of large and small home appliances. WEEKEND AVAILABILITY IS MANDATORY. CHHAs must commit to working either every other weekend (Saturday and Sunday) or one weekend day each weekend (Saturday or Sunday), per scheduling needs.

Individual must function independently and have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with clients, families, personnel and support agencies. Individual must be in good general health and demonstrate emotional stability. Individual must be able to work with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and at times hostile people within the community. Individual may be required to lift clients, medical equipment, supplies, etc. in excess of fifty (50) pounds. Individual must be able to assist in the evacuation of clients.
