Chicago - Air & Ocean Import Supervisor

Responsibilities

• 5+ years of experience in all modes. Potential career progression to Ops Manager
• Supervise and mentor a team of 4 import specialists handling both air and ocean freight shipments, fostering a culture of accountability, accuracy, and continuous development.
• Oversee day-to-day operations across air and ocean import departments, ensuring shipments are processed efficiently, compliantly, and in alignment with client expectations.
• Serve as the primary escalation point for complex shipment issues, customs holds, carrier delays, and client concerns, driving timely and effective resolutions.
• Monitor team workloads and performance metrics, identifying gaps and implementing process improvements to increase throughput and reduce errors.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with airline partners, steamship lines, overseas agents, and CBP to facilitate smooth cargo movement and clearance.
• Ensure full compliance with applicable import regulations, TSA security requirements, and government agency guidelines across both modes of transport.
• Collaborate with sales, account management, and customs brokerage teams to support new business onboarding and deliver a seamless client experience end to end.
