We are currently partnered with a leading global biopharmaceutical company seeking a Chief Accounting Officer to join their team in San Francisco, California. This innovative organization is dedicated to developing and delivering therapies that improve patient outcomes and enhance quality of life around the world. The company is experiencing continued growth and is looking for an accomplished finance executive to serve as a strategic business partner to executive leadership while overseeing the organization's global accounting function. The Chief Accounting Officer will play a critical role in driving financial excellence, ensuring regulatory compliance, supporting strategic initiatives, and building scalable processes to support the company's long-term growth objectives.
Chief Accounting Officer Responsibilities:
Provide strategic leadership and oversight of the global accounting and finance organization.
Lead financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and analysis processes.
Ensure compliance with GAAP, SEC reporting requirements, and all applicable regulatory standards.
Oversee the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes while maintaining strong internal controls.
Partner with executive leadership to support business strategy, operational decision-making, and growth initiatives.
Manage enterprise risk, tax planning strategies, and cash flow optimization.
Drive process improvements, systems enhancements, and operational efficiencies across the finance function.
Support capital raising activities, investor relations efforts, board presentations, and interactions with external stakeholders.
Develop, mentor, and lead high-performing accounting and finance teams across a global organization.
Chief Accounting Officer Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; MBA, Master's degree, or other advanced degree preferred.
CPA designation or equivalent professional certification required.
5-7+ years of executive-level leadership experience within Clinical Research, Biotechnology, Pharmaceutical, or Life Sciences organizations.
Deep understanding of technical accounting, financial reporting, compliance, and internal controls.
Experience supporting fundraising initiatives, capital structuring activities, and investor relations.
