Minimum Qualifications
Bachelors degree. A minimum of four years of professional experience in airport operations, aviation management, and transportation operations to include supervisory experience managing airport landside operations, transportation systems, customer service programs or related operational functions are required. Must possess a Driver s License. Additional professional experience in airport operations, aviation management, and transportation operations to include supervisory experience managing airport landside operations, transportation systems, customer service programs or related operational functions may substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis. Applicants qualifying for employment with the Miami-Dade Aviation Department will be subject to extensive security screening, including but not limited to fingerprint checks, employment verification and such other procedures as may be mandated by federal law. The security clearance required by federal law is a continuing condition of employment.
Recruitment Notes
This role covers tactical day-to-day, and administrative supervisory work, coordinating operations and service activities in the landside area at Miami International Airport. An employee in this class is responsible for planning, assigning, and reviewing the work of a staff of specialized supervisory, frontline, and clerical employees engaged in a variety of activities supporting Landside Operations.
The emphasis of the work in this capacity is on ensuring the safe and efficient movement of vehicular traffic, as well as on compliance by airport employees, tenants, and others with a variety of regulations, rules, and procedures, and on reviewing reports prepared by subordinates to identify deficiencies and initiate corrective action. Independent judgment is exercised in making immediate decisions regarding landside hazards, challenges, and potential problems, and in developing and implementing procedures to ensure safe and efficient ground traffic movement.
Supervision is exercised through subordinate supervisors over specialized and clerical employees who assist with various phases of work. General supervision is provided by an administrative superior who reviews work through personal conferences and written reports to ensure the efficiency of Landside Operations activities.
