Minimum Qualifications

Bachelors degree. Four years of progressively responsible experience in facilities maintenance and repair operations including responsibility for supervising journeyman- level construction, utilities, facilities or building trades employees engaged in preventive maintenance programs and in installation, repair and maintenance activities are required. Additional experience may substitue for the required education on a year-for-year basis. Applicants qualifying for employment with the Miami-Dade Aviation Department will be subject to extensive security screening, including but not limited to fingerprint checks, employment verification and such other procedures as may be mandated by Federal law. The security clearance required by the Federal law is a continuing condition of employment.

Recruitment Notes

This is highly responsible administrative, technical and supervisory work in aviation base facilities maintenance for the Aviation Department to include MIA and GA Airports. An employee in this class is responsible for supervising, directing and coordinating all utilities maintenance functions for Miami International Airport and auxiliary airport facilities. Responsibilities include directing supervisors, trades maintenance shops and field operations in the repair and maintenance of Aviation Department facilities, including but not limited to airfield lighting, electrical generation and power distribution, air conditioning, temperature control and chiller plant systems, building fire suppression and life safety systems, lift station facilities, locksmiths, grease traps, and liquid waste hauling and disposal. Responsibilities also include administering facility maintenance contracts and aiding contractor repair and renovations of existing facilities and systems.
