Lead the Future of Transportation Infrastructure at DRMP

DRMP is seeking a highly accomplished Chief Bridge Engineer to provide technical leadership, project oversight, and strategic direction for complex bridge and transportation structure projects throughout Florida and the Southeast. This is a senior leadership opportunity for an experienced bridge engineering professional with deep expertise in FDOT Category 2 structures, post-tensioned concrete bridges, steel box girder bridges, and complex transportation infrastructure projects.

The Chief Bridge Engineer will serve as a recognized subject matter expert, mentor senior engineering staff, oversee quality assurance efforts, and play a critical role in expanding DRMP's bridge engineering practice. This individual will work closely with executive leadership, transportation market leaders, and major agency clients to deliver innovative and technically challenging bridge projects across Florida.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership

  • Serve as the firm's senior bridge engineering authority

  • Provide technical oversight for complex bridge design projects

  • Review and approve engineering calculations, reports, plans, and specifications

  • Establish and maintain bridge engineering design standards and best practices

  • Serve as Engineer of Record (EOR) on major transportation projects

  • Lead technical problem-solving efforts for challenging bridge structures

Project Leadership

  • Direct the design and delivery of complex bridge and transportation structure projects

  • Oversee multidisciplinary project teams

  • Support Design-Build pursuits and Alternative Delivery programs

  • Ensure projects meet quality, schedule, and budget objectives

  • Participate in constructability reviews and value engineering efforts

Client Development & Strategic Growth

  • Build and maintain relationships with FDOT leadership and transportation agencies

  • Support proposal development, project interviews, and business development efforts

  • Assist in identifying strategic growth opportunities within the transportation market

  • Represent DRMP at industry conferences, professional organizations, and client meetings

Staff Development

  • Mentor bridge engineers, project managers, and technical staff

  • Guide professional development and technical training initiatives

  • Foster a culture of engineering excellence and innovation

  • Assist with recruiting and retaining top bridge engineering talent

Required Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering

  • Master's Degree in Structural Engineering preferred

Licensure

  • Professional Engineer (PE) required

  • Florida PE strongly preferred

  • Ability to obtain additional state registrations if necessary

Experience

  • 15+ years of bridge and transportation structural engineering experience

  • Significant experience leading complex bridge design programs

  • Previous Engineer of Record (EOR) experience

  • Demonstrated success leading bridge engineering teams

  • Experience managing major transportation infrastructure projects

Required Technical Expertise

Candidates should possess significant experience with:

  • FDOT Structures Manual

  • FDOT Category 2 Structures

  • AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications

  • Post-Tensioned Concrete Bridge Design

  • Steel Box Girder Bridge Design

  • Segmental Bridge Design

  • Long Span Bridge Structures

  • Quality Assurance and Technical Review Procedures

  • Signature transportation infrastructure projects throughout Florida

Experience working with FDOT, Florida's Turnpike Enterprise, major municipalities, toll authorities, and transportation agencies is highly desired.

Compensation & Benefits

Base Salary

$175,000 – $250,000+ annually

Sign-On Bonus

$5,000 – $15,000

Sign-on assistance will be determined based on experience, technical expertise, relocation requirements, and overall qualifications.
