Position Overview
The Planning & Inspections Department is seeking a dedicated and experienced leader to guide and oversee the Building and Plumbing Inspections Division. This role is ideal for a professional with strong leadership skills, a commitment to regulatory compliance, and the ability to manage complex, multi-disciplinary operations. The Chief Building Inspector will provide strategic direction, ensure high-quality standards are maintained, and foster the professional growth of staff while supporting the department's mission to uphold safety, quality, and community standards. This position requires a hands-on approach, exceptional communication, and the flexibility to respond to urgent situations as needed.

Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited two-year college or technical school with a degree in one of the specified curriculums listed below and four (4) years of experience in at least one of the building trades; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Necessary Certifications:
Possession of standard Level II certification by North Carolina's Code Officials Qualification Board for two building trades in the assigned area at time of hire.
