Chief Estimator

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Chief Estimator to lead our estimating department in Rockledge, FL. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the estimating process, ensuring accurate and competitive bids, and collaborating closely with project managers, clients, and subcontractors. This leadership role requires strong analytical skills, excellent communication, and a deep understanding of construction costs and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the estimating team to prepare comprehensive and accurate cost estimates for construction projects.
• Review project plans, specifications, and other documentation to develop detailed quantity takeoffs and cost analyses.
• Collaborate with project managers, architects, engineers, and subcontractors to gather necessary information and clarify project requirements.
• Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing.
• Ensure all estimates comply with company standards, client requirements, and industry best practices.

• Analyze historical data and market trends to improve estimating accuracy and efficiency.
• Prepare and present bid proposals to senior management and clients.
• Monitor project budgets and provide input during project execution to control costs.
• Train, mentor, and develop estimating staff to enhance team performance.
• Stay current with construction industry developments, materials, and technologies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred.
• Minimum of 7 years of estimating experience in the construction industry, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
• Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and cost estimating software.
• Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, specifications, and contracts.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and quality.
• Experience with industry-standard estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, ProEst, Sage Estimating) is highly desirable.
• Knowledge of local market conditions and subcontractor networks in the Rockledge, FL area is a plus.
