Job Summary / Purpose

The President & Chief Executive Officer reports directly to the Board of Directors and is responsible for the overall strategic, operational, financial, and cultural leadership of LifeCare Medical Center. The CEO provides executive oversight of all organizational functions while advancing the mission, vision, and values of the organization.

 

Essential Key Job Responsibilities

Board Relations & Governance

Develop a collaborative partnership with the Board of Directors.

Provide transparent communication regarding organizational performance.

Support governance education, strategic planning, and policy development.

Ensure regulatory and fiduciary compliance.

 

Strategic Leadership

Lead execution of the strategic plan.

Advance innovation, technology optimization, and sustainable growth.

Position LifeCare for long-term success in an evolving rural healthcare environment.

 

Medical Staff Relations

Build trusted relationships with physicians and advanced practice providers.

Support provider recruitment, retention, engagement, and interdisciplinary collaboration.

 

Community & Partner Relations

Serve as LifeCare's primary ambassador.

Strengthening partnerships with regional health systems, public health, EMS, schools, community organizations, and government leaders.

Represents LifeCare on local, state, and federal committees. Is an active member of the Minnesota Hospital Association and LeadingAge.

 

Operational & Financial Management

Ensure long-term financial sustainability.

Oversee budgeting, capital planning, operational performance, and organizational efficiency.

Promote philanthropy through the LifeCare Health Care Fund.

Oversee relationships with contracted partners to ensure compliance with negotiated goals.

 

Quality & Safety Leadership

Champion patient safety, quality improvement, regulatory readiness, and exceptional patient outcomes.

Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal laws and regulations.

Ensure compliance with all accreditation agencies.

 

Organizational Excellence

Foster a positive employee culture built on accountability, compassion, and collaboration.

Invest in leadership development, succession planning, competitive compensation and benefits, and employee engagement.

Establish a culture of excellence, promoting continuous quality improvement, service excellence, and a culture of safety.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum of 7 years of healthcare executive experience 
  • Advanced degree preferred 
  • Deep understanding of the rural healthcare landscape, including emerging trends, competitive dynamics and regulatory environments
