Position Description

Role Philosophy

The CFC is not expected to personally perform every accounting, HR, tax, or administrative function. Rather, the CFC is responsible for providing leadership, oversight, and accountability for these areas while leveraging qualified internal team members and external professional advisors.

The ideal candidate is a strategic financial leader who enjoys being involved in the business, understands the details, when necessary, but focuses primarily on helping the company make better decisions, improve performance, manage risk, and grow successfully.

Position Summary

The Chief Financial Controller (CFC) is a key member of SpringDot’s executive leadership team and serves as a strategic financial partner to the CEO and leadership team. The CFC provides financial insight, planning, and guidance to support the company’s continued growth, profitability, and long-term success.

The CFC will have broad leadership oversight of finance, accounting, planning, and related administrative functions. The role will also provide guidance and coordination regarding human resources, tax, insurance, compliance, and risk management, utilizing internal staff and outside professional resources as appropriate.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Leadership & Business Partnership

• Develop and communicate financial strategies that support company goals and long-term growth.
• Lead the annual budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes.
• Provide management with clear, timely financial reporting and analysis.
• Monitor financial performance and identify opportunities to improve profitability.
• Maintain strong financial visibility through development and monitoring of meaningful KPIs and financial metrics.
• Oversee cash flow, liquidity planning, and overall financial stability.
• Build strong relationships with banks, advisors, auditors, and other key partners.
• Provide financial guidance on capital investments, equipment purchases, and major business decisions.
• Participate in strategic planning, growth initiatives, and other significant business opportunities.

Accounting & Financial Operations

• Provide leadership and oversight of the company’s accounting and financial reporting.
• Ensure effective processes are in place for accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, general ledger, and financial close.
• Maintain appropriate financial controls and reporting procedures.
• Ensure financial information is accurate, timely, and useful to management.
• Coordinate annual reviews, audits, lender requirements, and other external financial reporting.
• Identify opportunities to improve financial processes, systems, and efficiency.

Tax, Compliance & Risk

• Provide oversight and coordination of outside tax advisors and other professionals regarding federal, state, and local tax compliance and planning activities.
• Provide oversight of the company’s insurance and risk management programs to identify and address significant financial and operational risks.
• Support business continuity and contingency planning.

Administrative & People Leadership

• Provide executive oversight and guidance for the Human Resources function.
• Partner with HR and management on compensation, benefits, payroll, employee policies, and workforce-related matters.
• Lead and develop finance, accounting, HR, and administrative team members while encouraging accountability and collaboration.

Executive Leadership

• Help SpringDot make informed decisions that support sustainable growth.
• Partner with department leaders to improve financial performance and operational effectiveness.
• Promote a culture of accountability, financial responsibility, and continuous improvement.
• Serve as a collaborative business partner who balances financial discipline with the company’s growth objectives.
