Overview

Our Client is a privately held portfolio of companies with more than 60 years of history operating across mechanical construction, HVAC, plumbing, controls, fabrication, service, and related property investments. The organization includes multiple operating entities employing more than 400 team members and delivering large-scale commercial and industrial projects throughout its markets.

Responsibilities

  • Provide financial leadership across all operating companies, ensuring alignment with portfolio objectives
  • Lead consolidated financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, long-range planning, and financial performance analysis
  • Develop standardized financial processes, reporting structures, and accountability systems to improve visibility, consistency, and decision-making
  • Deliver timely, accurate, and actionable financial information to executive leadership
  • Partner closely with operations leadership to align financial performance with field execution, labor productivity, and project outcomes
  • Develop KPI reporting to improve forecasting accuracy, margin performance, and operational discipline
  • Translate operational data into actionable financial insights for profitability and continuous improvement
  • Oversee job costing, WIP reporting, percentage-of-completion accounting, project cash flow, contract performance, change orders, claims, and project financial controls
  • Improve project-level financial discipline, forecasting accuracy, and cost tracking
  • Support business growth through financial modeling, expansion analysis, capital investment evaluations, acquisitions, and strategic planning initiatives
  • Manage enterprise cash flow, working capital planning, banking relationships, debt management, and capital structure
  • Lead enterprise risk management, internal controls, financial governance, and regulatory compliance
  • Build scalable financial systems, reporting infrastructure, and processes to support growth
  • Recruit, mentor, and develop high-performing accounting and finance teams
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to the CEO and executive leadership, providing clear financial insights
Requirements
  • Active CPA designation
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • Five or more years of CFO or senior financial leadership experience within the mechanical construction industry
  • Significant experience in construction, mechanical contracting, HVAC, plumbing, controls, fabrication, service, or related industries
  • Deep expertise in job costing, WIP reporting, percentage-of-completion accounting, project cash flow, and construction financial management
  • Proven success leading finance teams in complex, multi-disciplinary environments
  • Strong analytical, organizational, leadership, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to operate strategically and engage actively in day-to-day operations
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across departments
