About the Opportunity
A rapidly growing, mid-sized construction services company is seeking a strategic and hands-on Chief Financial Officer to join its executive leadership team. This organization operates within an employee-owned (ESOP) structure and is entering a significant phase of geographic and operational expansion.
The CFO will play a critical role in shaping financial strategy, driving operational performance, and supporting long-term value creation for employee-owners.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Finance & Leadership
Partner with executive leadership to define and execute long-term financial strategy
Provide actionable financial insights to support growth initiatives and expansion
Evaluate investments, capital allocation, and operational performance
Financial Operations & Reporting
Oversee all accounting, finance, tax, treasury, and reporting functions
Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling processes
Ensure accuracy, timeliness, and integrity of financial reporting
Cash Flow & Capital Management
Manage liquidity, working capital, and banking relationships
Oversee debt structures, credit facilities, and financial risk management
Support capital planning and funding strategies
Executive Partnership
Present financial results and forecasts to senior leadership and board-level stakeholders
Serve as a key advisor on financial and operational decisions
Team Leadership & Infrastructure
Lead and develop a high-performing finance and accounting team
Build scalable systems, processes, and controls to support growth
Drive accountability and performance across the finance function
ESOP Oversight
Manage financial aspects of the employee ownership structure
Coordinate valuations, compliance, and repurchase obligations
Partner with external advisors and support internal communication initiatives
Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field (MBA and/or CPA preferred)
Proven experience in senior financial leadership (CFO, VP Finance, or Controller)
Strong background in construction, project-based, or subcontracting environments
Expertise in job costing, WIP reporting, and project accounting
Experience supporting high-growth organizations and scaling operations
Prior ESOP experience strongly preferred
ERP experience (NetSuite or similar) preferred
Strong leadership presence with excellent communication and business acumen
