About the Opportunity
A rapidly growing, mid-sized construction services company is seeking a strategic and hands-on Chief Financial Officer to join its executive leadership team. This organization operates within an employee-owned (ESOP) structure and is entering a significant phase of geographic and operational expansion.
The CFO will play a critical role in shaping financial strategy, driving operational performance, and supporting long-term value creation for employee-owners.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Finance & Leadership
- Partner with executive leadership to define and execute long-term financial strategy
- Provide actionable financial insights to support growth initiatives and expansion
- Evaluate investments, capital allocation, and operational performance
Financial Operations & Reporting
- Oversee all accounting, finance, tax, treasury, and reporting functions
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling processes
- Ensure accuracy, timeliness, and integrity of financial reporting
Cash Flow & Capital Management
- Manage liquidity, working capital, and banking relationships
- Oversee debt structures, credit facilities, and financial risk management
- Support capital planning and funding strategies
Executive Partnership
- Present financial results and forecasts to senior leadership and board-level stakeholders
- Serve as a key advisor on financial and operational decisions
Team Leadership & Infrastructure
- Lead and develop a high-performing finance and accounting team
- Build scalable systems, processes, and controls to support growth
- Drive accountability and performance across the finance function
ESOP Oversight
- Manage financial aspects of the employee ownership structure
- Coordinate valuations, compliance, and repurchase obligations
- Partner with external advisors and support internal communication initiatives
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field (MBA and/or CPA preferred)
- Proven experience in senior financial leadership (CFO, VP Finance, or Controller)
- Strong background in construction, project-based, or subcontracting environments
- Expertise in job costing, WIP reporting, and project accounting
- Experience supporting high-growth organizations and scaling operations
- Prior ESOP experience strongly preferred
- ERP experience (NetSuite or similar) preferred
- Strong leadership presence with excellent communication and business acumen
