Under the general supervision of the Commissioner/Agency Head, an employee in this class performs highly responsible administrative, personnel, fiscal and payroll managerial functions for a department or agency. The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is an executive level position responsible for maintaining the organization's financial integrity while providing both operational and strategic support to the Government of the Virgin Islands (GVI). Functions within a broad framework of existing policies, laws, rules, and regulations.

This position requires participation in the formulation and determination of policies, programs, and priorities of the administration applicable to the department and consistent with the law.

This position requires a confidential relationship to a policy-making official.
