Lamesa Independent School District is seeking an experienced, collaborative, and forward-thinking Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to help shape the financial future of our district. This executive leadership position plays a vital role in ensuring our resources are managed responsibly so that every decision supports student success.

As a key member of the Superintendent s Cabinet, the CFO provides strategic leadership for all financial and business operations, ensuring transparency, fiscal responsibility, and compliance while supporting the district s mission of providing exceptional educational opportunities for every student.

What You ll Do

As Chief Financial Officer, you will:

• Lead all district financial operations, including budgeting, accounting, payroll, purchasing, investments, and financial reporting.
• Develop and oversee the district s annual budget and long-range financial plans.
• Serve as the Superintendent s chief financial advisor and provide recommendations to the Board of Trustees.
• Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal financial regulations, including Texas Education Agency (TEA) requirements.
• Oversee audits, internal controls, grant reporting, and financial accountability.
• Manage the district s investment portfolio while safeguarding district assets.
• Provide leadership and support to the Business Office team through coaching, mentoring, and professional development.
• Present financial reports and recommendations at Board meetings and other district functions.
• Collaborate with district leaders to align financial resources with instructional priorities and organizational goals.

Qualifications

Education

• Bachelor s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.

Preferred Skills

• Extensive knowledge of Texas public school finance and budgeting.
• Strong understanding of accounting systems, financial software, and data analysis.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to interpret financial data and communicate it clearly to diverse audiences.
• Proven ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and compliance.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.

Experience

• Minimum of four (4) years of administrative or management experience.
• Minimum of two (2) years supervising finance or accounting personnel.
