JOB SUMMARY:

The Chief Financial Officer is an Administration position.

The Chief Financial Officer is responsible for the financial viability of Bothwell Regional Health Center and provides leadership, direction, and operational support to assigned departments to insure the accomplishment of the organization’s mission.  Also responsible for administrative supervision of Information Systems, Materials Management, Medical Records, Patient Financial Services, Financial operations (including budget, general accounting, and managed care contracting), and case management. 

The Chief Financial Officer reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer.


QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: 
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.  CPA or Master’s degree highly desirable.   

Licensure/Certification:
a.)  None Required

Work Experience:
Ten years with increasing responsibilities in leadership in a hospital environment.  Experience in 3rd party reimbursement issues, managed care contracting and financial analysis and forecasting. 
       

RESPONSIBILITIES/JOB DUTIES:

Establishes and maintains financial policies and procedures which provide sufficient controls to safeguard the organization’s assets and provide timely and accurate financial information.      

Evaluates, negotiates, and monitors managed care contracts for compliance with the organization’s long-term strategies and appropriate compensation for services. 

Monitors and interprets regulatory or legislative changes by state and federal agencies and their application to and effect on Bothwell Regional Health Center. 

Communicates with the Senior Leadership Team and Department Managers the effect and formulates changes in policies and procedures to ensure compliance with changes. 

Maximizes revenue and cash flow through the integration of clinical and administrative functions.  Achieves results through the application of appropriate processes and accurate billing.    

Assists with planning, analyzing and implementing both short and long-term strategies that will enable the organization to meet the long term strategic plan. 

Supervises the development of operating and capital budgets annually.  Monitors the organization’s performance and recommends corrections in order to meet expectations.    

Pursues a continuing program of formal and informal education in healthcare financial management to maintain, strengthen, and broaden concepts, philosophies, and abilities.

Informs/advises the Chief Executive Officer and Board of Trustees regarding current trends, problems, and activities in healthcare financial management.

May serve as active CEO in the incumbent’s absence or when on administrative call.

Represents Bothwell Regional Health Center within the community and in community, state, and national hospital association and professional activities.

Serves as the Assistant Treasurer of the BRHC Foundation.
