Our client, an investment firm, is seeking an experienced Chief Financial Officer, Technology to join their team in New York, NY!
  Responsibilities:Strategic Financial Leadership
  • Serve as the finance partner to the CIO / CTO and the Technology leadership team.
  • Develop and articulate the financial strategy for the technology division, aligning with corporate goals.
  • Lead scenario planning, capital allocation, and investment prioritization.
Budgeting & Forecasting
  • Own multi-year and annual budgeting cycles for all technology units.
  • Establish forecasting models, variance analyses, and periodic re-forecasting.
  • Monitor performance versus plan and drive corrective actions.
Technology Investment & Capital Management
  • Evaluate and justify major technology investments—cloud migration, platform modernization, digital initiatives.
  • Ensure capital expenditures and operating expenses are optimized.
  • Participate in ROI modeling, cost-benefit analysis, and total cost of ownership assessments.
Cost Control & Efficiency
  • Develop cost governance mechanisms, controls, and standards within the technology division.
  • Drive efforts in cost optimization, vendor management, and spend transparency.
  • Identify areas for automation or process improvement.
Financial Reporting & Analytics
  • Provide leadership oversight over financial reporting of the technology segment.
  • Deliver dashboards, KPIs, and metrics to measure tech financial health (e.g. infrastructure cost per unit, cloud spend growth, ROI on digital projects).
  • Present financial insights to senior leadership and the board as needed.
Risk Management & Compliance
  • Partner with internal audit, risk, and compliance teams to ensure controls are appropriate for technology scope.
  • Assess and manage financial risks associated with technology spend, vendor contracts, and project execution.
  • Ensure regulatory and accounting compliance for technology-related expenditures.
Leadership & Team Development
  • Build, lead, and mentor a team of finance professionals (budgeting, FP&A, cost accounting) embedded within technology.
  • Set performance standards, career development paths, and succession plans.
  • Instill a finance mindset across the technology organization.

Qualifications:
  • Seasoned finance executive with 15+ years of experience, including 7+ years in senior leadership roles.
  • Proven background in financial services / investment firms, ideally with direct exposure to trading systems, fintech, platforms, or digital infrastructure.
  • Prior experience as CFO, VP of Finance, or Head of Finance for a technology division / engineering organization.
  • Deep understanding of technology investment cycles: cloud, digital, infrastructure, software development economics.
  • Strong track record of cost optimization, process transformation, and governance.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills — able to engage technology, finance, and executive leadership.
  • Advanced degree (MBA, Master’s in Finance / Accounting) or equivalent credentials (CPA, CFA, etc.).

Salary: $250,000 - $315,000
