About the Role
With guidance from the President & Chief Executive Officer, the Chief Human Resources Officer develops and implements University Hospital policies, strategies and processes to recruit, develop, and retain a high quality, effective workforce throughout University Hospital. The CHRO directs the Human Resources executive/management staff for all Human Resources functional areas including Compensation, Benefits, Talent, Labor Relations, Learning and Organizational Development, and Employee Information Services. healthcare environment.
Responsibilities:
What You’ll Do
- Provides dynamic leadership of Human Resources operations, including talent acquisition, compensation, benefits, labor relations, and learning.
- Acts as the principal advisor to the President and Chief Executive Officer, C-Level Executives, Administrators and Directors on the recruitment, management and retention of a high quality, effective workforce.
- Advances University Hospital’s mission by developing recruitment and retention frameworks that prioritize a culture of caring and a focus on patient experience.
- Coordinates the planning, strategy and implementation of labor relations policies and practices to advance positive employee-management relationships.
- Directs and coordinates collective bargaining with all labor organizations representing University Hospital employees and oversees the implementation of collective bargaining agreements.
- Builds proactive talent pipelines across functional areas to support an engaged, high-performing, and mission-driven workforce.
- Ensures HR compliance across policy, employment law, and labor regulations and updates policies and procedures in accordance with operational needs and applicable law.
- Develops, implements, and oversees the Hospital's compensation program, including market and internal equity reviews, to support equitable and competitive pay practices.
- Works closely with the Finance Department on workforce budgeting.
- Oversees the implementation, administration, and management of employee benefits and service programs covering all employees.
- Develops, implements, and oversees an effective program for management of employee performance, including promoting employee recognition and ensuring corrective actions and decisions are prompt and impartial, and conducted in accordance with applicable law and policies.
- Cultivates strong partnership between Human Resources department, peer departments, and Hospital leaders to advance the Hospital's strategic objectives.
- Deploys systems, technologies, and standardized processes to ensure that Human Resources matters are handled promptly, efficiently, consistently, and in accordance with applicable law and policies.

Qualifications:
What You’ll Bring
Required:
- Master’s Degree in Human Resources Administration or a related discipline plus at least ten (10) years of progressively responsible executive experience in Human Resources administration including relevant experience at a university, government agency or health care facility; or any combination of education, experience, and training which demonstrates the ability to perform executive level duties and responsibilities in this functional area.
- Outstanding human relations and leadership skills, and the ability to function in a team environment are required.
- Knowledge of how to accomplish superior performance in a unionized environment is preferred.
- Equivalent related experience, education and/or training may be substituted for the degree on a year-for-year basis.

Compensation (NJ Job Transparency Law)
In compliance with New Jersey’s Pay Transparency Act, the salary rate for this position is $375,00.00 - $450,000.00.
