ABOUT THE ROLE
As a Chief Engineer, you will lead the day-to-day operations of a large commercial facility, ensuring all maintenance, repair, and facility services are delivered safely, efficiently, and in alignment with client expectations.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Serve as the primary on-site point of contact for the client
- Lead, supervise, and develop a team of maintenance technicians
- Oversee all facility operations, including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and general maintenance systems
- Utilize CMMS systems to schedule and manage maintenance activities and track performance
- Manage subcontractors and vendors, ensuring quality service and contract compliance
- Conduct routine inspections of buildings, systems, and equipment to identify and resolve issues
- Perform hands-on troubleshooting and minor repairs as needed
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs and safety procedures
- Manage budgets, reporting, and operational documentation
- Identify and implement cost-saving and process improvement initiatives
- Ensure compliance with OSHA standards and company safety policies
- Support hiring, training, and performance management of facility staff
- Participate in an on-call rotation (approximately every 6 weeks)
WHAT YOU'LL BRING
- High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree preferred
- 5+ years of experience managing maintenance teams in a commercial facility environment
- Strong knowledge of MEP systems (mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and general maintenance)
- Experience with CMMS systems and facility operations management
- OSHA-10 certification required
- Experience managing subcontractors and multi-building operations is a plus
- Hands-on experience with tools and basic facility repairs
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
