Chief Medical Officer Hybrid - Must reside within a commutable distance from San Diego, CA or Orange County, CA
The President & Chief Medical Officer provides executive leadership for the physician organization, overseeing clinical operations, physician performance, quality initiatives, and strategic planning. This role partners with executive leadership to ensure high-quality diagnostic services, regulatory compliance, and physician engagement while supporting organizational growth and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and oversee the physician organization and clinical operations.
Develop physician staffing, recruitment, onboarding, and retention strategies.
Promote clinical quality, patient safety, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Monitor physician performance, productivity, and service standards.
Ensure compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and professional practice requirements.
Collaborate with executive leadership on strategic initiatives and organizational goals.
Support budgeting, workforce planning, and physician resource allocation.
Mentor physician leaders and foster a collaborative, high-performing culture.
Qualifications
Minimum 10 years of diagnostic pathology experience.
At least 5 years of physician leadership or medical director experience.
Experience managing physician teams and clinical operations.
Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
Experience working with executive leadership in a healthcare environment preferred.
Education
Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited institution.
Completion of an accredited pathology residency program.
Certifications & Licensure
Board Certified in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology (AP/CP) or an applicable pathology subspecialty.
Current, unrestricted medical license or ability to obtain licensure in the applicable state(s).
