Our Carefree Living organization is seeking an experienced and driven Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) to lead and support nursing operations across our assisted living communities throughout Minnesota. The Chief Nursing Officer is responsible for overseeing nursing quality assurance initiatives, regulatory compliance, clinical systems, operational standards, and best-in-class resident care throughout our locations. This leadership role will provide strategic oversight of nursing operations while supporting policy development, staff education, Medicaid optimization, quality assurance, and clinical compliance.
Schedule: Full-time salaried position based on organizational needs and travel requirements.
Location: Minnesota based position with local and regional travel to Carefree Living communities.
Salary: Competitive salary based on experience.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Interpret and oversee compliance with current county, state, and federal health care and nursing regulations
Develop and implement nursing systems, policies, procedures, and quality assurance standards
Lead clinical quality assurance initiatives and operational improvement strategies across all locations
Provide training, education, and ongoing support to licensed and unlicensed nursing staff
Conduct audits and evaluations of nursing services and recommend operational improvements
Oversee and optimize Medicaid processes and reimbursement systems related to resident care
Ensure resident assessments are completed accurately and within required timelines
Coordinate and support admissions review processes and complex resident care decisions
Collaborate with operations, finance, IT, and clinical teams to improve systems and workflows
Support and oversee private pay and Medicaid-funded service assessments
Participate in the hiring, development, and support of licensed nursing personnel
Lead and support infection control and annual immunization initiatives
Maintain relationships with county workers, regulatory agencies, referral sources, and community partners
Participate in strategic planning and organizational growth initiatives
Ensure communication and operational consistency across all Carefree Living communities
Support leadership teams in achieving regulatory compliance, operational excellence, and census goals
Perform additional duties as assigned by Executive Leadership
QUALIFICATIONS:
Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Minnesota required
Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred
Public Health certification preferred
Minimum of 10 years of nursing experience required
Prior management and supervisory experience required
Assisted Living and/or Home Care experience strongly preferred
Strong understanding of Minnesota Assisted Living regulations and Medicaid processes
Experience with quality assurance, policy development, staff training, and regulatory compliance
Excellent leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities and travel between locations as needed
Strong proficiency with Windows-based computer systems and Microsoft Office applications
