POSITION SUMMARY
To provide superior quality, competitive value and outstanding service in Pediatric Medicine to the patients of Brevard County, Florida. The Chief of Pediatrics, under the supervision of the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), provides direct patient care while meeting the Quality and Productivity Goals set for the Brevard Health Alliance Pediatric Department.
GENERAL EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) degree in Pediatrics, Master's Degree in Public Health preferred.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years of experience as a practicing Physician in a primary health care environment, community health center or Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC).
- Clear and active Florida Medical License
- Board Certification in Pediatrics
- Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) License
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS)/CPR certification from the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross
- Proficient in Electronic Medical Records (EMR)
- Proficient in the operations of Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHC) or Community Health Centers
- Practice management and personnel management experience
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Meets department skill requirements
- Extensive knowledge of the information and techniques needed to diagnose and treat human injuries, diseases, and ailments. Includes symptoms, treatment alternative, drug properties and interactions, and preventive health-care measures
PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Provides leadership and establishes scope of practice for the Pediatric continuum of care across the organization
- Works collaboratively with Clinical and Operational Managers, Chief Operating Officer, Chief Medical Officer and Chief Executive Officer on staffing, new associate orientation and training, performance reviews, departmental quality and production goals,
Primary Accountabilities cont.
coordination of personal leave (PL) and continuing medical education (CME) time off, and progressive coaching and discipline.
- Facilitates the Medical Home Model through coordination of oral and behavioral health as well as case management and disease management assessment and improvement.
- Supervises assigned Nurse Practitioner(s) in the performance of standardized procedures as outlined by the specific ARNP Protocol which addresses both the degree and method of supervision
- Ensures policies, procedures and protocols are understood and followed by the clinical team and keeps the CMO apprised of developing clinical issues
- Authority for Pediatric clinical staffing model and competencies
- Responsibility for establishment of protocol and policy for Department of Pediatric Medicine including scope, privileges, pharmacy, licenses, and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain all regulatory requirements and necessary documents to meet standards of HRSA, FTCA, DEA, DOH, and other entities necessary for compliance with regulatory agencies
- Works collaboratively with Department Chairs of Dental, Behavioral Health and Pharmacy, as it relates to Pediatric Medicine
- Participating in quarterly Utilization Review/Quality Improvement of clinical services, including: Peer reviewing Labs, Pharmacy, Development of policies, procedures and protocols, specialist referrals, ER and clinical measures as assigned by the Chief Medical Officer.
- The Chief of Pediatrics, will meet established corporate goals
- Provider-specific duties as assigned by the CMO
- Takes ownership and represents Brevard Health Alliance's mission and organizational goals established by the executive committee. These include, but are not limited to: Productivity, Quality, Patient Satisfaction, and Employee Retention. It is the duty of each BHA employee to incorporate these goals into all daily work routines and strive to achieve and surpass all goals by working as a team. The mission and goals of BHA will be incorporated into each associate's Key Performance Indicators and will be evaluated on a monthly and quarterly basis.
