If so, Facilities Management at State Fund has an exciting opportunity for a Chief of Plant Operations to oversee engineering operations across multiple California location.

This role plays a critical part in ensuring our facilities operate safely, efficiently, and in compliance with all applicable standards. the selected candidate will lead engineering teams, partner with internal stakeholders, and drive continuous imporvemen across the organization.

The sucessful candidate will oversee all aspects of engineering operations, including but not limited to:

  • Leadership and oversight of Stationary Engineers and Chief Engineers
  • Day-to-day plant operations across multiple facilities
  • Preventative and predictive maintenance programs
  • Electrical and mechanical system reliability
  • Compliance with Cal-OSHR, NFPA, and applicable codes
  • Water management programs
  • Vendor managment and contract oversight
  • Budget monitoring and cost control
  • Use and optimization of CMMS Systems (Planon Preferred)
  • Coordination with internal teams
  • Emergency response planning
  • SOP and MOP development
  • Continuous improvement initiatives

The Chief of Plant Operations will be responsible for building a strong, accountable team culture focused on Safety, collaboration, and high performance.

The ideal candidate will have the following:

  • Leadership experience supervisng engeneering teams
  • Experience managing multiple sites
  • Knowledge of central plant systems and HVAC
  • Data center experience (prefered)

This in-office position may be placed in either Sacramento, Vacaville, or the Pleasanton Office and will be required to travel approximately twice a month to any of the offices throughout California.

A Training & Development may be considered.

This is a Limited Term position for 12 months which may be extended to 24 months or become Permanent.

The successful candidate must reside in California upon appointment.

Selected candidate(s) hired may be required to attend in-person Onboarding at our Vacaville office with expenses for attendance paid by State Fund.

Special Requirements

This is a 12 month Limited Term Position which may be extended to 24 months, or become Permanent.

Effective July 1, 2025, the State of California implemented the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025) which reduces an employee's monthly salary in exchange for leave credits. Employees appointed to this classification will have their monthly salary reduced and will accrue hours of PLP 2025 on the first day of each pay period in accordance with the applicable bargaining contract. The salary range(s) included on this job posting do not reflect the reduction in pay.
