Description
The Chief of Staff is a high-impact, high-trust partner to the CEO. This role is equal parts strategic advisor, operational architect, and thought partner. The CoS sits at the intersection of strategy, execution, and leadership, ensuring the CEO's time, attention, and organizational priorities are relentlessly aligned.
The ideal candidate brings the analytical rigor of a top-tier management consultant, the communication sophistication to engage a board of directors, and the pragmatic sensibility to move cross-functional initiatives from whiteboard to completion. This role is a proving ground for future C-suite leadership.
Responsibilities:
Identify gaps between strategy and execution; develop structured recommendations and track follow-through for problem areas
Lead or co-lead special projects on behalf of the CEO, requiring navigating ambiguity and tight deadlines
Serve as a sounding board and intellectual sparring partner on strategic decisions, new initiatives, and emerging opportunities
Synthesize complex information into crisp, decision-ready memos, presentations, and frameworks the CEO can act on quickly
Manage the CEO's operating rhythm including weekly priorities, strategic reviews, and OKR/KPI cadences while ensuring focus on the highest-leverage work
Own cross-functional project management for initiatives that span multiple departments and require executive coordination
Design and improve internal processes that increase organizational velocity, reduce friction, and scale with growth
Prepare and facilitate leadership team meetings (both executive leadership and director+); ensure focus on the right conversations; drive accountability on follow-up items
Partner with the CEO to prepare board meeting materials, including board decks, committee updates, and supporting analyses
Manage board member communications, follow-up items, and logistics between meetings
Draft communications on behalf of the CEO including Town Hall messaging, internal announcements, strategic memos, and board correspondence; ensure robust employee communication on purpose, customer centricity and reduce feelings of whiplash
Build and maintain relationships with senior internal and external stakeholders, serving as a trusted extension of the CEO
Requirements
5+ years of professional experience, including a minimum of 2 years in management consulting (MBB or similar) or investment banking/private equity
Bachelor's degree from a highly selective institution; MBA or advanced degree strongly preferred
Demonstrated track record of driving complex, ambiguous projects to completion with measurable outcomes
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; ability to distill complexity into clear, compelling narratives for executive audiences
Outstanding analytical skills including building financial models, synthesizing data, and drawing strategic insights
High emotional intelligence; adept at navigating senior stakeholder dynamics with discretion and confidence
