The New York City Law Department is accepting applications from admitted attorneys for the position of Chief of Talent and Development. As a member of the Corporation Counsel's executive team, the Chief of Talent and Development will be responsible for shaping and executing the Law Department's strategy for recruiting, developing, and retaining a diverse, public-service driven workforce. As a direct report to the Corporation Counsel, this role oversees the full talent lifecycle from outreach and hiring through training, professional growth, and leadership development and ensures alignment with the Law Departments values: Excellence, Dedication, Integrity, Justice, Teamwork, Professional Development, Respect, Supportive Work Environment, and Diversity. Working closely with the Directors of Legal Recruitment and Professional and Organizational Development, as well as executive leadership, the Chief of Talent and Development will build on the Law Department's strong, diverse pipeline of talent and culture of continuous learning and excellence.

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates must have at least 10 years of legal experience following graduation from an ABA accredited law school and be admitted to the practice of law in New York State and should have significant leadership experience in talent management and professional development within government or legal organizations. Candidates should be committed to equity, inclusion, and building a diverse workforce. They should also have strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills, excellent judgment, and experience advising senior executives and managing agency-wide initiatives.
