Job Description

Requirements
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or a related field required.
- Master’s degree in Business Administration or Healthcare Administration from an accredited institution preferred.
Experience
- Minimum of four years of recent experience in a managerial position at an acute care hospital.
- Experience managing multiple hospital departments simultaneously, preferably including a combination of support and non-nursing clinical departments.
- Experience in physician relations and/or recruitment.
- Basic knowledge of hospital financial systems.
- Demonstrated ability to problem-solve, identify underlying issues, formulate solutions, and teach others.
Licensure/Certification
General Duties & Responsibilities
- Complete specific administrative projects, assigned functions, and supervision of departments as directed by key hospital management in a timely and accurate manner.
- Assist with or fully coordinate facility and program planning, budget preparation, and administration of hospital policies.
- Represent the hospital at professional, civic, and governmental organizations and meetings.
- Assist the CEO in developing strategies to strengthen medical staff relations.
- Provide recommendations and approaches for addressing difficult issues with individual physicians.
- Assist the CEO with physician recruitment and retention, as well as identification of new service lines and capital expenditures.
- Work with the CEO to ensure the hospital meets necessary regulatory and compliance requirements and quality accreditations in conjunction with the Chief Nursing Officer.
- Work with the CEO to create an environment that supports the recruitment and retention of qualified hospital employees.
- Assist the CEO in translating annual revenue and profit goals into specific plans to achieve desired results.
- Assist in planning new services that generate additional sources of profitable revenue.
- Assist in managing costs by identifying opportunities and taking action to eliminate non-value-added costs in conjunction with the hospital’s financial and nursing officers.
- Participate in the hospital’s monthly operational reviews and corporate office meetings as appropriate.
- Consult with and advise the CEO regarding problems related to hospital operations.
- Recommend changes to administrative policies to more effectively achieve hospital objectives.
- Resolve issues with department heads related to staffing, utilization of hospital facilities, and utilization of equipment and supplies.
- Demonstrate an understanding of the needs of the hospital’s patient population and work to meet those needs.
- Maintain awareness of customer needs and work to address concerns and resolve problems involving internal and external customers.
