POSITION SUMMARY:

The Chief Operations Officer provides executive leadership for the district's operational systems, ensuring that facilities, transportation, and nutrition services are aligned to support safe, efficient, and high-quality learning environments for allstudents. This role is accountable for the effective planning, coordination, and delivery of operational services that enable schools to function at a high level and support the district's academic priorities.

The Chief Operations Officer oversees Facilities Services, Transportation, and Nutrition Services, ensuring that each area operates with a focus on efficiency, compliance, customer service, and continuous improvement. This includes maintaining safe and well-functioning school environments, ensuring reliable and timely student transportation, and providing high-quality nutrition services that support student health and readiness to learn. This role is responsible for aligning operational systems with district priorities, including enrollment trends, school schedules, and programmatic needs, to ensure that resources are effectively allocated and responsive to the needs of students and schools. The Chief Operations Officer works closely with academic and student support leaders to ensure that operational decisions directly support teaching and learning.

The Chief Operations Officer reports to the Senior Chief of Staff - Academics and District Operations and works collaboratively with executive leadership to ensure that operational systems are fully aligned to support the district's overall mission and goals.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Operational Systems and Service Delivery

• Provides executive oversight of Facilities Services, Transportation, and Nutrition Services, ensuring efficient, reliable, and high-quality service delivery across all schools and district sites
• Ensures all facilities are safe, well-maintained, and conducive to teaching and learning
• Oversees transportation systems to ensure safe, timely, and efficient student transport aligned to school schedules and program needs
• Ensures nutrition services provide high-quality, compliant meal programs that support student health and readiness to learn
• Establishes clear expectations and performance standards for operational services, ensuring consistency and responsiveness across the district
• Leads continuous improvement efforts to enhance service quality, operational efficiency, and customer satisfaction

• Aligns operational systems and services with district priorities, including enrollment trends, instructional programs, and school needs
• Oversees planning and resource allocation for facilities, transportation, and nutrition to ensure effective and efficient use of district resources
• Collaborates with academic and student support leadership to ensure operational decisions directly support instructional priorities and student needs
• Identifies and implements cost-saving strategies and operational efficiencies while maintaining high-quality service delivery

• Ensures all operational functions comply with federal, state, and local regulations, including safety, transportation, and nutrition requirement
• Establishes systems for monitoring performance, identifying risks, and ensuring accountability across all operational areas
• Develops and implements policies, procedures, and protocols to ensure safe and efficient operations
• Monitors operational performance metrics and uses data to drive improvements and inform decision-making

• Communicates operational priorities, expectations, and performance to internal and external stakeholders
• Prepares and presents reports to the Superintendent, Senior Chief of Staff, and Board of Education
• Responds to stakeholder concerns and ensures high levels of customer service across all operational areas
• All other duties, as assigned and required, in order to perform the above service
