Our client, a leading healthcare provider specializing in cardiovascular and thoracic surgery, is hiring a Senior Physician Assistant (PA) Thoracic Surgery. This pivotal role offers an exceptional opportunity for an experienced PA to provide clinical leadership, manage a dedicated team, and enhance patient care within a highly specialized thoracic surgery program. As Senior Physician Assistant, you will oversee the daily operations of the PA team, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care across all clinical settings. Your leadership will drive team performance, support professional development initiatives, and promote optimal clinical outcomes. You will collaborate closely with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to develop protocols, oversee clinical procedures, and contribute to departmental growth and innovation. A key component of this position involves managing staff recruitment, performance evaluations, and resource allocation, fostering a cohesive and high-functioning team environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and supervision for Physician Assistants within Thoracic Surgery.
  • Manage staffing, scheduling, and clinical coverage to ensure seamless operations.
  • Lead recruitment, onboarding, training, and retention efforts.
  • Conduct performance reviews and facilitate ongoing education for staff.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nursing, and administrative leaders to optimize patient care.
  • Support clinical oversight, including protocol development, procedure performance, and perioperative care.
  • Ensure compliance with institutional policies, regulatory standards, and accreditation requirements.
  • Participate in quality improvement, research initiatives, and departmental projects.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies from an accredited program.
  • Current NCCPA certification and active New York State Physician Assistant license (or eligibility).
  • Minimum of 4–6 years of clinical experience, ideally in thoracic or surgical settings.
  • Prior leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications.
  • Strong leadership, clinical judgment, and excellent communication skills.
