Does that sound like you? \n \nAbout the job:\n \nThe Chief Technician is responsible for the plant operations of the Sodium Chlorate process to produce in a safe, environmentally sound, and efficient manner.\n \nIn your future role as a Chief Technician, you will:\n\n Champion safety, environmental, and housekeeping standards across the site.\n Operate plant systems safely and efficiently to produce consistent, high-quality products.\n Lead and guide field operators, ensuring clear priorities and effective teamwork.\n Monitor process conditions, troubleshoot deviations, and drive root cause investigations.\n Support maintenance planning, including SAP notifications and outage preparation.\n Achieve and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs).\n Participate in safety programs, permit-to-work processes, and continuous improvement initiatives.\n Train and mentor operators and new Chief Technicians.\n Communicate clearly across shifts, conduct effective handovers, and keep accurate shift records.\n \nWe believe you bring:\n\n A High School Diploma/GED with at least 2 years of post-secondary or military education (technical field preferred), or 3+ years of experience in the chemical industry.\n Strong ability to read, analyze, interpret, and respond to technical data related to plant operations.\n Solid math skills, including working with fractions, decimals, percentages, and metric system conversions, and applying them to operational processes.\n Proven problem-solving skills for practical and operational challenges in a plant environment.\n Ability to interpret sample results and take prompt, appropriate action.\n Competence in operating computers and DCS systems with multiple screens and alarms.\n Clear and efficient communication skills, including radio communication.\n \nGood to know:\n\n This is a full-time position reporting directly to the Shift Supervisor and will be based at our Columbus, MS location. \n Please apply via our online recruitment system.
