Young people in crisis need a clinician who can see the whole picture—school, family, development, and risk—and act with clarity. In this role you will be the psychiatric lead for children and adolescents whose symptoms are disrupting learning, safety, or home life. Your work turns careful assessment into treatment plans that families can follow and teams can measure.
Performance Objectives
Complete timely, developmentally informed psychiatric evaluations and deliver a clear diagnosis, risk formulation, and treatment plan families understand.
Reduce acute risk by identifying suicidality, aggression, and substance use early and initiating the right level of care.
Start, adjust, and discontinue psychotropic medication using evidence, monitoring, and shared decision-making with patients and caregivers.
Coordinate care with therapists, pediatricians, schools, and community partners so treatment stays consistent across settings.
Improve functional outcomes—school attendance, symptom stability, and family engagement—and document progress in a way that supports continuity.
Contribute to clinical standards, case review, and colleague consultation so complex cases are managed safely and consistently.
Environment & Resources
You will practice within a multidisciplinary behavioral health team and report to clinical leadership. Support includes nursing and care coordination, an electronic health record, scheduling and billing infrastructure, and protected time for documentation and collaboration. Caseload mix and coverage expectations are defined with leadership so urgent needs do not crowd out planned follow-up.
Essential Qualifications
M.D. or D.O. with completed residency in psychiatry and fellowship training in child and adolescent psychiatry.
Active, unrestricted medical license and board certification or board eligibility in child and adolescent psychiatry.
Demonstrated ability to manage medication, risk, and comorbidity in outpatient or equivalent child and adolescent settings.
Skill collaborating with families, schools, and non-physician clinicians without losing clinical accountability.
Current DEA registration and eligibility for applicable controlled-substance and payer credentialing.
Role Selling Points
A role defined by outcomes for children and families, not volume alone.
Real partnership with therapy, pediatrics, and schools rather than isolated prescribing.
Clinical autonomy paired with peer consultation on high-risk cases.
A practice that treats caregiver engagement as part of the treatment, not an afterthought.
