The Parks & Community Services Department is looking for our next Part-Time Child Care Assistant to join the MoVal Team!

Status: Part-Time

Schedule: Monday through Friday: 1:30 PM-6:00 PM and Wednesday: 12:00 PM-6:00 PM

THE OPPORTUNITY

Join our team as a Child Care Assistant and make a meaningful difference in the lives of school-age children! This part-time position provides an opportunity to support a safe, engaging, and positive environment where children can learn, play, build friendships, and develop new skills.

Working alongside experienced Child Care Instructors and Site Supervisors, you will help plan and lead recreational and educational activities, introduce children to games, sports, arts and crafts, provide homework support, and encourage teamwork and good sportsmanship. You'll play an important role in creating a welcoming environment where every child feels supported and encouraged to participate.

IDEAL CANDIDATE

The ideal candidate is a caring, dependable, and enthusiastic individual who enjoys working with school-age children and is committed to creating a safe, positive, and engaging environment. They are patient, attentive, and able to build positive relationships with children while encouraging participation, teamwork, cooperation, and good sportsmanship.

Successful candidates will be comfortable leading and participating in a variety of recreational and educational activities. They should be creative, energetic, and able to adapt to the needs and interests of children while maintaining appropriate supervision and structure.

The ideal candidate works well as part of a team, communicates effectively, follows directions, and demonstrates sound judgment. A strong commitment to providing quality customer service and creating a welcoming, supportive experience for children and families is essential.

MINIMUM AND DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS

A typical way of obtaining the knowledge, skills and abilities outlined above is graduation from high school or equivalent, and 6 Units of college coursework in Early Childhood Education (ECE) or Child Development (CD), and a minimum of 6 months paid experience working with children.

Licenses; Certificates; Special Requirements:

A valid California drivers license and the ability to maintain insurability under the Citys vehicle insurance policy.

Certificate in Red Cross Basic first aid/CPR (may be obtained within the first six months of employment).

IF POSITION IS AVAILABLE IN MULTIPLE DIVISIONS/TEAMS:

There are two (2) vacancies in the Parks and Community Services Department. This recruitment is being conducted to fill two (2) vacancies and will establish an eligibility list, which may be used to fill future vacancies as they occur during the active status of the eligibility list.

THE SELECTION PROCESS

Applicants possessing the MOST DESIRABLE qualifications at each level, based on a screening of required application materials, including the completed Supplemental Questionnaire, will be invited to continue in the selection process. Recruitment Process: Human Resources (HR) reviews all application materials to determine whether candidates meet the established minimum and preferred qualifications after the position closes. Application Screening

Applications and supplemental materials will be reviewed to identify candidates whose qualifications best align with the positions essential requirements. Only those applicants who meet the criteria outlined in the job bulletin will advance to the next phase of the selection process.

Video Appraisal Interview

Applicants may complete a self-guided video interview by recording responses to a series of structured questions. These questions are designed to assess each candidates qualifications and suitability for the position. There is no live interviewer or proctor; candidates will record their answers independently and submit the videos for evaluation.

Technical Interview:

Selected applicants will be invited to participate in a structured technical interview designed to evaluate job-related knowledge, problem-solving abilities, and proficiency in key competencies required for the position. Candidates will respond to a series of standardized questions, and their performance will be assessed using predetermined evaluation criteria to ensure a fair and consistent appraisal process.

Based on the Departments needs, the selection procedures listed above may be modified. All candidates will be notified of any changes in the selection procedure.

Eligible List: Once the appraisal is complete, HR will establish an eligible list of candidates. Candidates placed on the eligible list may be referred to a selection interview to be considered for present and future vacancies.
