    Lead Teacher - Early Childhood Education (Direct Hire)

    Location: VCU Health System
    Schedule: Monday-Friday | 7.5-hour shifts between 6:00 AM - 8:00 PM
    Open Positions: 3


    Position Overview

    We are currently seeking experienced and passionate Lead Teachers to join our early childhood education team. This is a direct hire opportunity offering the chance to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment supporting the growth and development of children ranging from 6 weeks to 6 years old.

    The ideal candidate is nurturing, adaptable, and experienced in leading classroom activities while fostering a safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate learning environment.


    Key Responsibilities

    • Lead and manage a classroom of young children, ensuring a safe and supportive environment
    • Plan and implement age-appropriate curriculum and activities
    • Support children's social, emotional, and cognitive development
    • Communicate effectively with parents, caregivers, and team members
    • Maintain compliance with all safety and regulatory standards
    • Handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced, high-interaction setting 


    Required Qualifications

    • Associate degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Psychology, Psychology, or a related field
      OR
      High School Diploma (or equivalent) with at least 40 hours of coursework in early childhood education or a related discipline
      OR
      Equivalent combination of education and experience
    • Minimum of 2 years of formal experience working with children (paid or unpaid)
    • Prior experience in a lead teacher or classroom leadership role
    • Experience working with children ages 6 weeks to 6 years

    • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills
    • Ability to communicate clearly (verbal and written)
    • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
    • Comfort working in a fast-paced, high-interaction, and sometimes noisy environment
    • Adaptability to changing needs and classroom dynamics

    Physical Requirements

    • Frequent bending and movement
    • Ability to climb stairs and occasional ladder use
    • Ability to actively engage with children throughout the day

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience working specifically with infants (6 weeks to 2 years old)
    • Familiarity with the Reggio Emilia approach to early childhood education
