OverviewMilwaukee Area Technical College (MATC) is hiring an Assistant/Teacher for Child Care Services at the Mequon campus. This is a one‑part‑time academic year position (mid‑August to mid‑May) requiring up to 19 hours per week, primarily in in‑person classroom settings for infants, toddlers, and preschool children.ResponsibilitiesMonitors, plans, and prepares instructional activities; provides general assistance to students in the child development center.Develops age‑appropriate curriculum, including lesson plans, and prepares materials for learning activities.Observes and evaluates students enrolled in the Child Development Program.Implements curriculum that meets developmental interests and abilities of the children; provides support, focused attention, and encouragement to facilitate task completion.Responds quickly and directly to children's needs, adapting responses to their styles and abilities.Detects and reports signs of stress, physical, emotional, or developmental problems to the supervisor.Prepares exhibits and demonstrations for class presentations; operates related equipment such as record players, compact discs, and VCRs.Maintains order in classrooms, labs, and other spaces; manages inventory of supplies and equipment.Keeps progress records, notes, inventories, and other data; prepares related reports as required.Fosters cooperative interaction with staff, students' parents, and student teachers.Participates in in‑service training, workshops, and other educational activities as required.Performs other related duties as required or assigned.QualificationsEducation: Associate degree or 60 college credits with related Early Childhood credits (required). Bachelor's degree is preferred.Experience: One to three years of progressive child care teaching experience (required).
