Description
Position Summary: Child Life Specialist 30 hours (two, 10 hours days in CHPCC Primary Care and one, 10 hour day in Cardiac in-patient).
Participating in therapeutic activities and programs to meet patients' psychosocial and developmental needs, and facilitating adjustment to health care experiences for patients
Serving as member of multidisciplinary team
Providing support to patients and families from birth to young adults population.
Key Responsibilities:
Common interventions include support for procedures, siblings, development, and bereavement
Providing coping support for patients with both short and long-term hospitalizations
Maintaining resources which include ordering and stocking unit areas
Delegating work assignments to volunteers and participates in clinical training of student interns.
Minimum Qualifications Education:
Bachelor's degree in Child Development, Child Life, or a closely related field with a concentration in child life.
600-hour Child Life internship under the supervision of a certified child life specialist.
General skills to resolve problems requiring the use of child development theory, professional child life principles, and experienced‑based knowledge.
Well-developed writing skills, and excellent communication skills including conflict resolution to effectively work as a team member.
Child Life Certification required within 1 year of hire
